Packing can feel overwhelming—but with the right approach, it becomes much easier. Follow these smart tips to stay organized and reduce stress:
Begin packing 2–3 weeks before your move. Pack a little each day to avoid last-minute chaos.
Stay organized by focusing on one room. Label each box with the room name and what's inside.
Strong, clean boxes help protect your items. Avoid using old or damaged boxes.
Use bubble wrap, packing paper, or soft towels for dishes, glassware, and other breakables.
Heavy items like books should go in small boxes. Light items like pillows can go in big ones.
Use strong packing tape on all seams to keep boxes secure during the move.
Mark boxes with the room and contents. Add "FRAGILE" if needed, and "LOAD LAST" for essentials.
Set aside a box with things you'll need right away—like chargers, toiletries, a change of clothes, and snacks.
Before unplugging your TV or computer, take a photo of how the wires are connected. It’ll save time later.
Maximize space by packing clothes, shoes, or personal items in luggage, gym bags, and backpacks.
Unplug 24 hours in advance, drain any water, secure the cord, and pack in the original box if possible.
Clean thoroughly, disconnect all connections, tape doors shut, and wrap cords.
Remove loose parts, wrap in bubble wrap, and pack in a sturdy box.
Empty all drawers, remove shelves if possible, and wrap in moving blankets to prevent damage.
Wrap individually in bubble wrap, place in picture/mirror boxes, and label as fragile.
Disassemble frames and headboards. Keep screws and bolts in labeled bags taped to the bed frame.
Pack in small boxes to avoid heavy lifting. Lay flat to protect bindings.
Empty drawers. Secure drawers with tape or stretch wrap. Consider removing mirrors for separate packing.
Pack in original cases or disc wallets. Place vertically in small boxes and cushion with packing paper.
Stack if possible. Wrap legs and arms with padding to prevent scratches.
Use wardrobe boxes for hanging clothes. Fold and pack others in suitcases or boxes.
Wrap each item carefully in bubble wrap and pack in sturdy boxes with lots of cushioning.
Do not pack items like gasoline, paint, aerosols, or cleaning fluids. Movers are not allowed to transport these.

Pack in a padded box or wrap in bubble wrap. Remove batteries and secure remotes separately.
